How to review an alert
Follow these steps to review alerts and document your investigation in Watchful.
Before you begin
Make sure you have permission to access the Monitoring Portal and Alert Log.
Steps
1. Go to the Alert Log
From the sidebar or Home screen, select Alert Log.
This page lists all alerts detected by the system, showing details such as Customer, Site, Status, and Occurred/Closed At.
2. Find an alert to review
Use the Search field or Filter panel on the right to narrow results by Alert ID, company name, date, or status.
For example, filter by Possibly Intruder to locate alerts requiring further review.
3. Open the alert
Click on an Alert ID to open the detailed Alert Review view.
This view shows recorded footage, detection highlights, AI insights from Quill, and the full event timeline.
4. Review the event footage
Use the Previous Event and Next Event buttons to step through each frame or detection.
Each event is timestamped and displays AI-identified objects such as Person or Vehicle.
5. Check the Alert Details
On the right-hand panel, review metadata such as:
Occurred and Notified At times
Status (e.g., Intruder, No Threat, Possibly Staff)
Company and Monitoring Group
Actioned At and Closed At (if applicable)
6. Add Notes
Scroll to the Notes section and select Add Note to record your observations or investigation outcomes.
Notes may include context like site conditions, operator decisions, or follow-up actions.
7. Update the alert status
Use the Update Status button to categorise the final outcome (for example, No Threat or Intruder).
If you’re closing the alert, select Close Alert.
These updates ensure the audit trail remains complete.
Result
Once your review is complete, the alert’s details and notes are saved automatically.
They become available for future Auditing, Training, and Incident Investigation.
